Collin's Birthday!

Grandma, mom, and Collin on the raft together!
This was Collin's birthday week, and to be honest, it started out a little rough.

His birthday was on Tuesday, but mom started to feel sick on Monday, and it actually got worse throughout the week. Collin's friend Isabelle also started to feel a little sick during the week as well. I feel really bad because we were supposed to go out to eat on his birthday, but we ended up not being able to since mom was not feeling well. He still got to bring cupcakes into his school where all the kids wished him a happy birthday there, which was nice.

The actual week might have not been good, but what everyone in the family was really looking forward to was when we go out to the lake to celebrate Collin's birthday on the weekend! We usually go out on a Sunday, but this year we decided on going Saturday. Unfortunately, it was very windy and cloudy in the morning and it did not stop the whole day. The people down at the lake let us reschedule though, so we changed the reservation to Sunday afternoon instead of Saturday morning. The next day started with the final soccer scrimmage of the preseason, and then at around noon we left to head down to the lake.

This time, there was barely a cloud in the sky, and next thing you know we were on the boat. The thing that makes the boat really fun is the tube that you can have people sit on while the boat drags it. We got it early in the year to plan ahead, and Collin really loved it. There were three seats in it, and it was really easy for him to get on and off. We were out there for a whole four hours until we pulled back into the dock, and everybody was wiped out.

We were not done yet though. Then we went back to our house where Collin opened some presents and we all got to have pizza and some desserts. After that, people were really tired and they started heading out. Collin's birthday week might have started out hard, but it ended very nice. By the end of the day, he hopped right into his bed and was ready to go to sleep!

The Family Visit

Once again, this week was filled with school and soccer, but the weekend held another surprise. We had family visiting from Texas!

It was mine and Collin's aunt and uncle, as well as our three year old cousin named Steven. They came in Thursday, and they were staying at our grandparents house. The first time I got to see them was when I was picked up by my Grandma after school on Friday. I went over to their house and got to see them before the rest of my family!

I was over there until they came over at around five so that we could go out to eat dinner. Everybody had a fun time, but the best was the day after when they came over to our house to have a barbecue! We got to go in the pool, have dinner, and Steven even played soccer with me on the mini goal that we have in the house! It was so fun to get to see them and I am so happy that they visited! They are leaving Monday or Tuesday, but either way, that will be the last time that we see them before they depart. They are so nice and I hope that we can see them again soon.

There was still one more day to go in the weekend however. At around nine thirty we were already at the second preseason soccer scrimmage of the year, and at around two we were in the backyard swimming with Collin's friend Isabelle. She had also brought over her friends son, who is about five years old.

By the time that they left, we mostly just relaxed. We ran a couple errands, had dinner, and then were ready to go to bed. Collin was especially tired. It was another successful week and we are already looking forward to the next! Thanks for reading and tune in next week on TBB!

Collin back at school, first soccer scrimmage and dinner at grandparents

This was the first week that Collin and I were both back at school, but just like almost every week, the excitement was on the weekend instead. Going back to school was not as big of a deal for Collin, because he goes to a year-around school, so he was only off for two weeks instead of two months! He has already picked up where he left off, and is doing great while at the same time trying new things. The weekend is also getting close to being back to normal, because this is the first soccer scrimmage that I have had in what feels like a long time! I am having to play up with kids two years older than me this year since they could not get a team for my age group, but all the same, it is still fun to be challenged by bigger, faster kids than me. It is also scary though to think that I am playing club soccer with freshman in high school! After the game, we got to go get something to eat with my friend and then he came home with us for a little bit as well. After that, the day was mostly composed of hanging out by the pool. The next day was Sunday, and it was also an average day. There were no sports except for Collin's soccer that day, and that was pretty fun. When we got there though, there were only three other people, so we got to play a more fast-paced game than usual. There is usually way more people there, but every once in a while not a lot of people show up, which makes it a lot more exciting. That was almost the end of the weekend, but we were actually able to go over to our grandparents house for dinner that night. We had some really good food, and everybody was really happy! The weekend was really over after that, and most of us just took showers and went to bed. (I was writing this blog post!) So thanks for reading and tune in next week on TBB!

Back to school, and back to club soccer.

Two major things changed during this last week that signals that Summer is basically over. The biggest one is going back to school, and the second is club soccer starting again.

Unfortunately, my age group did not get enough players to make a full team, so I am playing up with kids that are one or two years older than me. Practices are every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and one of them is super late and the other one is super early. School started on a Thursday, which is kind of weird, but I like it so that I have the weekend to get used to things. It feels really weird having to wake up early and go back to school again. Collin would laugh when he sees me having to go to school, but he starts this coming week so he cannot laugh much longer!

Things are back to how they were and I liked it better the other way. We only had those two major changes this week, and besides that there is not much more to say. Sorry that this is a shorter post than usual, but thanks for reading and tune in next week on TBB!
